In our laboratories, we carry out tests to assess the behavior of materials or finished products under specific conditions of use, simulating a wide range of mechanical and functional stresses to verify performance, durability, and safety. Tests can be carried out in accordance with national and international standards or according to specific customer requirements, including through the creation of dedicated equipment.

These tests provide essential information for product design and development, helping to select the most suitable materials, but also for production testing and to ensure compliance with relevant standards. The materials that can be tested are: metals, plastics, rubber, textiles, leather, and composite materials.

01 Injection system endurance tests

Endurance testing on injection systems allows the real-life operation of injection systems (injectors, pumps, fuel rails) to be simulated at high pressure and temperature, using special test fluids such as ethanol and methanol mixtures, and assessing their reliability and wear over time. During testing, components are subjected to repeated operating cycles to monitor any changes in performance, material degradation, and possible malfunctions. Pontlab has advanced test benches capable of recreating different operating conditions. These tests are essential for the automotive industry, particularly for the design and improvement of internal combustion engine efficiency.

02 Durability testing on electric motors

These tests evaluate the behavior and durability of electric motors and BSGs (Belt Starter Generators) by simulating realistic operating cycles. The tests are conducted by adjusting parameters such as temperature (from -40°C to +150°C), voltage, and load to verify efficiency, insulation material degradation, and the motor's ability to withstand mechanical and thermal stress. Pontlab performs tests on electric motors for various applications, such as automotive, aerospace, and industrial mechanics, contributing to the development of more reliable and high-performance solutions. The analysis of the results allows for design optimization, improved energy efficiency, and extended component life.

03 Tests on tires, rims, and friction seals

These tests include various types of tests to verify the dynamic behavior and safety of tires, rims, and friction seals. The rolling resistance test is performed on a radial load bench, simulating contact with the road surface to measure the tire's energy efficiency and fuel consumption. The rotating flex test, performed on a dedicated test bench, evaluates the resistance of rims to repeated mechanical stress, while friction coefficient tests, carried out on a brake system test bench, verify the braking effectiveness of friction materials under different temperature and humidity conditions. These tests are essential for the automotive and railway industries, where safety and reliability are paramount.

04 Custom functional tests

Pontlab offers the possibility to design customized tests to simulate the real conditions of use of a product, recreating specific environments and verifying resistance to mechanical, thermal, or chemical stresses. Thanks to customized test benches, it is possible to perform tests on complex components, ensuring a detailed analysis of performance. Custom functional tests can include testing in extreme environments, exposure to aggressive liquids or corrosive gases, and testing in explosion-proof chambers for flammable or explosive materials. These tests are used in sectors such as aerospace, oil & gas, marine, and automotive, where products must meet strict safety and resistance standards.
